What we do at Central University of Tibetan Studies
Founded 1967 as envisioned by H.H. the Dalai Lama in consultation with Pandit Jawarhalal Nehru for the preservation and promotion of Tibetan Culture and Buddhist Studies. Fully funded by the Central Government of India through the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports. Declared as 'Deemed University' 1988. Acquired present title 2009. Formerly known as the Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies (CIHTS).
